When it comes to buying gifts directly from a registry, I always tend to hesitate. I like to give a gift that is a bit more personal, especially when the mommy-to-be is a close friend or relative. I’ve heard that you should buy gifts off the registry because that is what the mom really wants or needs, but I have to disagree. Why not have the best of both worlds? I like to put together gift baskets that combine items from the registry, but also include some personal touches and creativity of my own. I hate to use the term “gift basket” because I always picture something wicker and old-fashioned, but they can be done in a sleek and modern way. Plus, they make the most adorable presentations that are sure to be the envy of the other guests. For my friend’s baby shower, I bought a bunch of pillows and other baby bedding pieces from her registry. I found the perfect box that was great for putting all the gifts inside and for storage later. To complete the gift, I used one of our Big Baby Rattles to make it especially unique. In the end, I had a baby shower gift that was what my friend wanted, but was truly one-of-a-kind!
